Recently my best friend and I RPed out a plot wherein Comb and R have a brief fling. And they were so bloody cute together it was a shame to break them up. So, we had to figure out why that was, and why the thought of Comb and Enjy, or even Cour and Enjy together was simply one that wouldn't work. Analyzing's fun. *G* My R is an interesting character... He's very needy. All he requires to be happy is to be loved. The boy has Issues. Enjy, on the other hand is... well, he's spoiled. It's his way or the highway, so to speak. R would put up with that as long as Enjy loved him. Well, if he didn't love him he'd still put up with it, but he's happy when Enjy loves him. R can "yes dear" all his life through, as long as he's loved. Cour and Comb, however, can't do that sort of thing. If either of them ever tried a relationship with Enjy, it would *not* go well. They couldn't "yes dear" for long, and after a short period of time it would degenerate into bickering. So, of the characters we have, only R could last with Enjy. *But*, R and Comb go great together. Why? Because Comb is able to give him all that affection and emotional support he desperately needs, without the control Enjy gets in exchange. In short... Comb is better for R than Enjy is. Their relationship would be stabler and more fulfilling for R. If only they had fallen in love with other... But R is usually quite happy with Enjy. Even if he does pick up a few more Issues along the way.

Oh, forgot to add a few other things to my thoughts... Cour and R wouldn't last very long either, because Cour is simply not equipped for dealing with all of R's emotional baggage, and the poor boy has plenty. Joly and Lesgles are taken, though the two of them together might be able to take good care of R... There's an idea I never considered before. *G* Bahorel... *cough* No. I'll reconsider Feuilly when we got some idea of who he is, really. And Jehan and R would be adorable together, for a time, but I think that maybe Jehan's a bit too sensitive to really take care of my poor R. Comb and Cour work together pretty well, I think. Though they're hard to explain, exactly. There's just something about those two.
