Sep. 13th, 2002 09:54 pmI just finished reading A Place of Greater Safety. God, what a great book. It's sort of a barely fictionalized, soap opera version of the French Revolution, up to the executions of Danton and Camille Desmoulins. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful book, and slashy as hell. On purpose, I think. I have fallen madly in love with Robespierre, and have an odd, inexplicable attachment to Camille. I'm not exactly sure what I think of Danton. Sometimes I like him, and sometimes I don't. Saint Just is the devil. But a really good looking devil, damnit. Still, Robespierre is the one person that, if I were to get a time machine, I would go back to kidnap. I currently have nothing more to say... Other than that I must own it. Historical slash pleases me.
